Title: Nicest Shopping Experience
One of my nicest shopping experiences was for a bra and panties. I located on the web a specialty retail shop in the NYC area that advertised that it was CD friendly. On a business trip to the area, I stopped by the store and found it to be a specialty shop carrying lingerie, foundation garments, and other women's clothing catering to a distinctly older clientele. All the same, I managed to get up the courage to ask for help from one of the sales ladies. She asked if I was shopping for myself, and when I said I was, she suggested that the best time for male customers was mid-week in the late morning. She said the shop was too crowded now to properly help me. With her name and an idea of when to visit, I returned the next morning and had a wonderful reception. As promised, the store was almost deserted and my sales friend brought out several bras and panties for my inspection. I told her I had no idea of the right size and so she took me back to the dressing rooms and after asking me to take off my shirt and T-shirt, she measured me carefully. As to cup size, she asked me if I had forms or would like to try on some of the styles they carried. Naturally, I took her up on the offer. I tried on several styles of forms with different bras; each time I had the privacy of a booth in which to change, but then was invited out to the fitting area so she could help to fit me. It was incredible, being treated like any other customer: with courtesy, respect, and advice. When I finally made up my mind, she suggested that I try on a blouse and skirt with the bra and forms, "in order to see how clothing would look while I was wearing them." That was another great experience. We discussed hemlines, colors, and styles, and she remarked on which ones would best compliment my figure (or at least the figure she had helped to build!) At various points other sales ladies came in to retrieve packages or look up orders in the fitting area. None of them seemed to notice us; from which I gathered that the shop was quite used to male customers. At one point one of the saleswomen asked if she could bring in a female customer for a fitting, but my sales person suggested they use the "other small fitting room" for privacy. Three blouses and several skirts later, I left the shop with the breast forms, and an assortment of bras, panties, blouses, and skirts. It was the most heavenly morning I can remember. Of course, I spent far more than I intended, but there was never any pressure, just good salesmanship. I look forward to another trip to NYC this fall, but in the meantime, I have become more knowledgeable about sizes and much more confident in my own judgement of style and fit.
